Notes's picture

Andre Walker of the Georgia Politics Unfiltered blog has a few thoughts on Bill Shipp's column on recruiting, or the lack thereof. In an earlier blog post, he wondered if Democrats could capitalize on the many unforced errors of the Republican controlled general assembly. Six months before the general election, Walker is ready to say that the answer is no. DPG Communications Director Martin Matheny, then a worker on Jane Kidd's campaign to become party chair, reported in 2007 on the need for the party to contest every seat. Through the lens of those prior promises, Walker says it may be time for new leadership in the Democratic caucuses. He finishes his thoughts with "it's time for Democrats to lead" and doesn't sound too optimistic that the current crop of leadership is up to the task. Decatur Guy, of Atlanta Public Affairs blog, who doesn't usually see eye to eye with Walker, agrees for once.

Not Jane Kidd's fault

Recruiting is not Jane Kidd's fault, though Martin Matheny is an idiot to make such a statement. The blame for lack of recruiting is squarely with the legislative leadership - House and Senate.

Actually, it is Jane Kidd's fault

She was put there by DuBose Porter and Calvin Smyre, and does what they do and what they want her to to do - nothing.
